Our BoardThose Who Make It Possible
Lydia Flora Barlow is the Founder and Board President of Fabian’s Fund. Lydia balances her professional career in finance with community organizing that focuses on the intersections between mass incarceration, education, and trauma. Her work related to mass incarceration includes serving on the Washington Statewide Reentry Council. Lydia’s passion for dismantling the structures underlying mass incarceration and restoring the lives of those impacted by it emanates from her experience in the Beloved Community with families of incarcerated men and women. Her commitment to these issues has been inspired in part by the loving memory of Fabian, a family member who was raised as her brother and who committed suicide in prison at the age of 21. Currently, Lydia serves as trustee of the MMBB Pension Fund and a progressive seminary, American Baptist Seminary of the West. She is the Managing Director of the SEIU 775 Secure Retirement Trust and, until recently, was a Senior Vice President at Symetra Financial, a Bellevue, Washington-based financial services company.
