According to 3Dmark 2006, the new GeForce 8800 GTX is over two and a half times faster than the Radeon X1950XTX at 2560x1600, which is quite incredible. At this resolution the 8800 GTX scored a staggering 7233pts, whereas the X1950XTX managed just 2738. Even at 1024x768, the lowest tested resolution, the 8800 GTX was 74% faster than the X1950XTX, which was previously the most powerful single graphics card available.

Despite the shocking 3Dmark2006 results, the X3: Reunion test results are not quite as impressive. This could be an early driver issue with the game as we suspect the performance can be much improved. Nevertheless, at the maximum tested resolution the 8800 GTX did match the X1950XTX for performance.
