Corsair K70 Core

Ultimately, the K70 Core is a high-quality satisfying keyboard, with premium details laced in with a simplistic yet effective design. While it’s let down by its software issues, even a dodgy button doesn’t feel like a game-changer thanks to an adaptable piece of kit and keys that keep you wanting more.

The K70 Core is an entry level keyboard done right. The quality is present in the places it matters the most. The switches, stabilisers and keycaps all combine to deliver a typing experience that rivals keyboards that are twice the price. Corsair have made some good improvements to spacebar stabilisation and dampening with the K70 Core and are definitely heading in the right direction. Compromises have been made in regards to build quality to keep the price down but production costs have been cut in the areas where it will be least noticed.

The K70 Core isn’t just a huge improvement over Corsair’s more basic keyboard designs. Thanks to lubed switches and internal foam, it has the best typing experience of any Corsair keyboard, at a competitive price.

Despite its affordable price, the Corsair K70 Core is a very capable keyboard. The overall feel of the board when typing and the features it comes with are above what you’d normally expect at this price point, and the few negative points we can say about it are excusable given its budget-friendly nature. We can’t recommend it enough.

The Corsair K70 Core is an affordable, reasonably well-specced and efficient gaming keyboard for $99 (except for the non-detachable cable). The build quality is excellent for the price, the multi-purpose dial proves to be quite useless, and the mix of the buttery smooth Corsair MLX Red switches and two layers of EVA sound dampening helps the keyboard achieve a pleasant sound profile.
