Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 - 2023

Overview

The ROG Zephyrus G14 remains one of the better compact all-purpose laptops that you can buy today, especially if you're in the market for a sub-15-inch device. This generation is available with much more powerful hardware than in the past, but that comes with a steep price as well. Mid-range configurations are still the better-value buys imo, but even with those you'll have to accept that this computer runs hot with demanding gaming and work sessions. There's just no way around physics.

Without the overpowered RTX 4090, I'd recommend picking up the G14 (2023) in a heartbeat. However, with this exact spec, I just can't get onboard.

It's expensive, but if you need a high-performance gaming laptop that can also fit comfortably into a backpack or travel bag, the Zephyrus G14 is hard to beat.

The balance between portability and power is so finely struck here it feels like you're getting the best of both worlds - all wrapped up in a slick chassis. Nvidia is back to give your graphics that boost, but like many of this year's gaming laptops, that RTX 40-Series GPU is going to shift the price up as well.

Maximum performance in a 14-inch notebook: Thanks to the Ryzen 9 7940HS and GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop, the new ROG Zephyrus G14 offers very powerful components in a compact 14-inch chassis. The overall performance is excellent and you also get a great 165 Hz Mini-LED panel. Pretty much the perfect package if you can afford it.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (available at Best Buy for $2,899.00) is small but fierce. It matches the Razer Blade 14 for portability and build quality, and the performance rivals behemoths like the Asus ROG Strix G18 or the MSI Raider. While it can’t quite get the same mileage out of its graphics card as those larger laptops, it’s the most powerful gaming laptop for its size and still one of the most powerful gaming laptops overall.

The Zephyrus G14's bright screen, great performance, and portability make it a perfect match for gamers or creative professionals on the go. Even as I move onto reviewing other laptops, I'm considering buying a G14 for myself. It's just that good.
